Thesis Book
Publication Design as a part of ‘Painted Alphabets’—Graduation Project Thesis.
During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to have completed my graduation project under Nia Thandapani’s guidance and tutelage. As a confluence of her interests in design history and research, and mine in print and typography, I worked on the documentation of sign-painting practices through Pianted Alphabet Books.

While the main project is still in the works, I eagerly share some images of my thesis book that I thoroughly geeked over printing and designing.

With Nia being primarly a book designer by practice, I was introduced to papers and gsms, book-making tools and macquettes, working with grids and layouts, basics of printing terminology during my tenure at her studio. I also had the opportunity to visit and liase with printers and paper merchants and distributors.

Thus, I was able to use the same self-led design process from beginning to end when I was given carte blanche for the thesis book.
