Looking through the glass, darkly
Experimental media—Evoking the feeling of “Liminality” through experimental media and processes.
'Looking through the glass, darkly' dabbles with the idea of liminality.  Liminality is that inexplicable sensation, that strange familiarity, that certain ambiguity, that fleeting, transient, transitory state. Liminality is that neither here nor there. Liminality is that 'day of judgement,' the rite of passage, standing at the threshold. It is change, separation, evolution, migration, movement, loss, gain, and everything else.

In this course on experimental media, Liminality is explored through unconventional mediums of expression. Dabbling with light, sound, touch, and imagination, through an adept use of space and supporting audio, visual, and visceral media, these instances create a sense of unease by manipulating viewers' perceptions of commonplace reality, such as viewing the news.

This exhibition featured three windows into three unrelated worlds, each with an eerie sense of familiarity.

Threshold of mediums
“News worldwide weaving together time and dimension, era and epoch, real and reel. Who are we to say? We are nothing but animals, consuming what is handed to us without haste, only hastily hoping for more. We believe the reel and doubt the real. These windows of conscious experience haze out after a point. We look into a void of permutations and combinations of information.”

Threshold of Myth
“Experience the absence of definition, the absence of boundaries sset, and the absence of rationale. A myth is not to be uunderstood; a myth is passed on, like a game of Chinese whispers, it takes course and ages with time, suiting the demography and tale; it warps and distorts.”

Threshold of Morality
“It is the day of judgement—a hell of evils awaits you. It comes in different shapes and sizes. It is all just a mask. In utmost darkness and stillness, you see a reflection. It is the devil.”
